CUTTING TAXES FOR FAMILIES & BUSINESSES
Congresswoman Comstock delivered on tax relief: Lowering personal tax rates, doubling the child tax credit to $2k, tax incentives for family leave, and cutting business taxes by 40% to help bring jobs back to the United States and encourage growth and investment in the American economy.
INCREASED FUNDING FOR SCHOOL SAFETY & PREVENTION OF GUN VIOLENCE
Congresswoman Comstock is committed to a multi-pronged, effort to prevent gun violence. She co-sponsored the STOP School Violence Act that led to $2.3 billion for increased school resource officers, school safety programs, mental health treatment, prevention, training, and crisis intervention teams She also co-sponsored the bill passed to improve and provide more funding for the national background check system.
CRACKED DOWN ON MS-13 GANGS
Congresswoman Comstock authored and passed bipartisan legislation to provide resources to our regional gang task force that was signed into law. She also passed legislation in the House cracking down on MS-13 gangs, requiring deportation of illegal alien gang members and barring foreign MS- 13 gang members from entering the United States.
REBUILT OUR MILITARY
Congresswoman Comstock has made rebuilding our military and ending the national defense budget cuts a top priority, and she supported the budget plan to strengthen our defense and national security to keep our country safe.
PREVENTION & TREATMENT FOR OPIOID & HEROIN
Congresswoman Comstock worked with local sheriffs, schools, hospitals, churches, faith- based groups and social services to address the growing opioid and heroin addiction in our community. She voted for $4 billion in federal, state and local resources for our community for coordinated responses and treatment to those battling addiction.
FOUGHT SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
Congresswoman Comstock led the charge on cracking down on sexual harassment in Congress and the workplace, passing major reform legislation to stop any payment of taxpayer dollars for harassment and requiring members of Congress to pay any settlements themselves and make the settlements public. The legislation also provides an office for protecting victims and requires education to prevent harassment in the workplace.
NEW FUNDING FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER, ALZHEIMER’S, AND MEDICAL RESEARCH
Congresswoman Comstock has been a leader fighting for more funding for medical research, including $3 billion for NIH for researching cures and new treatments for chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s at the National Institutes of Health. She also introduced the Kid’s First Research Act which will provide an additional $346 million for childhood cancer research and co-sponsored legislation for more support for Alzheimer’s caregivers and long-term care.
HELPING OUR FIREFIGHTERS PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES
Congresswoman Comstock authored and passed legislation providing six years of funding to modernize and improve the equipment to prevent and fight home and business fires, while also improving the safety and health of our firefighters who are protecting our communities.
OPENED A NEW VETERANS CENTER IN LEESBURG
Congresswoman Comstock worked with Local and Federal officials to bring a Veterans Community Access Center to Loudoun County. The Veterans Center provides a wide range of services for Veterans as well as active duty military personnel and their families.
PROSECUTION OF ONLINE HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Congresswoman Comstock has been a leader in battling human trafficking and helping victims and passing stiffer penalties on predators, including legislation just signed into law to fight online human trafficking where predators reach into our homes and target our children using social media and computers.
